Care homes, like many other business, have to keep detailed records of accidents and have to be able to provide an accident trend analysis report to CQC, the governing body, when required.
This trend analysis should be carried out each month and it can take up to 3 days for the manager to complete, particularly when they have interruptions from the day to day activity within the home.
I was asked to investigate ways of reducing this burden and produced a tool to help streamline the process. Instead of manually having to calculate the number of accidents of each type and all of the stats around them, the manager now just enters the accident information directly from the accident book and the app does all of the calculation and prints a report on request each month.
